The first date will be the most important date. It sets the tone for the relationship and speaks volumes about who you are. A good first date will also give you both an opportunity to get to know each other. Here are some good ideas, as well as what to avoid, for a first date.

Coffee Shops

A coffee shop is non-threatening and provides a good atmosphere to sit and chat. This is inexpensive, and doesn’t require a huge investment on either party. Choose a shop that serves small meals or snacks in case the date goes really well and runs long. Also don’t pick the shop where all your buddies hang out. You want an environment where you can focus on each other, and not your friends.

Museums, Zoos, And Amusement Parks

These are also great first date ideas. A museum will allow you to show your date you are cultured and allow you to enjoy and experience art or crafts together. A zoo, believe it or not, can be a great romantic date idea. You can casually stroll and talk as you go. The same goes for an amusement park.

What To Avoid

Don’t set up a date for a movie. Sitting silently next to a person is not a great way to get to know someone. Also avoid asking your date to your home for the first date. This requires more trust than they have yet and can push them away. Also steer clear of double or group dates, as this will distract you from learning about the person.
